Link rel refers to the HTML attribute that a link used to define the relationship between the current web page and the linked resource. Links can be dofollow, or nofollow and this lets Google know the type of relationship and trust of that link.
Dofollow link is a normal link that you'd find on a website with no extra HTML attributes. When a search engine, like Google, encounters a dofollow link they will follow that link and consider it as a trusted signal and relationship between the two linked websites. These links pass link "value", i.e. ranking authority, from one page to the other.
Nofollow links are links that have the attribute rel="nofollow" in their HTML code. When a search engine encounters these links they do not follow it, and this link will not contribute to the ranking signals of the linked page.
Domain Rating, a metric that was developed by Ahrefs, one of the most popular SEO tools on the market. Ahrefs domain Rating is used to indicate the overall authority and strength of a website's backlink profile. Domain Rating is scored on a logarithmic scale from 0 to 100. Websites with a higher DR score are considered to have a stronger backlink profile, and in turn are more likely to pass along higher link value to your website. Acquiring links from sites with a higher DR will have a larger impact on your websites rankigns.
This is an estimate that Ahrefs provides based on the organic (Google) traffic that a website receives on a monthly basis. This is NOT the number of visitors that a website receives, instead this is an estimation based on the website's rankings of various keywords and the keywords associated link volume. A website with a low traffic figure could have hundreds of thousands of visitors a month but have a low traffic figure.
Difficulty is how difficult I would gauge a links difficulty in obtaining. The more steps to the process or hurdles you need to jump through the more difficult I consider the links.
Instant links are links that when built will instantly show up on the website. These do not require an approval or review process.
The first thing is to take a look at the example link provided, I will link to a page that has example links that you can build yourself. Directory links often require submitting or adding your website/tool to their website. They will generally have a contact form or email to get in contact and submit your details. Keep in mind that not all directories you'll be able to submit to and generally have their own guidelines and requirements. For example, site inspiration links require you to have a well designed website and these must be approved by the site owner. These links are extremely valuable though and can pass a lot of link value to your website, helping your Google rankings.
Feel free to reach out via the chat support! I'm happy to help explain how you can build these links and guide you through the process.
Building links isn't a sprint, it's a long marathon. The goal isn't to build as many links as you can as quickly as you can. You've got access to this list for life. Your goal should be to build links over time, this makes things look natural to Google. Building links over time helps let Google know that your site is still relevant and deserves attention.
Not necessarily. You'll find links that I've added that are low DR links, or low traffic links. I believe that long term these links have the potential of gaining traction and grow in Google traffic and DR. Some of these are hidden gems, and getting your a link from these websites early on could be great for your long term SEO. Your goal with link building is to build links over time, build links naturally. Naturally backlinks come in all shapes, sizes and forms. This means that a natural link profile has a spread of high DR links, low DR links, nofollow links and dofollow links. Don't focus on just one metric and build links based off of that.
If the link opportunity doesn't seem to be working anymore you can flag links accordingly. I can then dive into each link and see if the opportunity is still valid and update each link accordingly.
